Welcome!

Welcome to the BUHS Class of 1964 web site. In the upcoming months we will work to develop this site into a source of information about the class and its activities, and about our classmates. Please take time to occasionally visit this site, and to share your ideas with us. Ray Puffer will be serving as the webmaster.

45th Reunion.

Below you will find the letter we just sent out to the class as a follow-up to our very successful 45th reunion. If you did not receive your letter we might not have your current mailing address. If you were not able to make it for the 45th we truly hope that you will make an effort to join us for the 50th (WOW!) reunion in 2014. We have already started planning activities. If you would like to help we would love to have you join the 50th reunion committee.

Dear Classmates,                                                                                                  November, 2009

Here in southern Vermont, the leaves of fall have given way to a very cool yet sunny November. The clocks have moved back one hour…. change…reminding us of things yet to come…..snow and the holiday season.

For those of you who attended our 45th high school reunion in June, thank you for taking the time to attend our celebration.  Our weekend was a success due in large part to your participation.  To quote Sheila Underwood, “At the Saturday evening event, I experienced so much emotion during those few hours. The send- off breakfast at Dick Hodgdon's was a relaxed opportunity to engage in conversation and focus on individuality. The impact of being in the midst of so many that shared a time of life so long ago is a profound experience.

The weekend events began with an attempt to play golf at the Keene Country Club.  A forecast of rain kept all but the hearty bunch….Ray Puffer, Rick Farnham, John Mitchelides, Billy Christmas and Dick Tracy… from playing. John surprised everyone with a phenomenal game.  Saturday evening at the Legion was complete with great music from local artists Shakin’ All Over, dancing, lengthy conversations catching up, pictures, hugs and promises to keep in touch!  Elaine Merrill Flood and Sue Avery deserve our gratitude for their planning initiatives and making it all happen. How about attendance from Tom Marshall, Diane Merritt, Ron Macie, and Joan Latchis, who collectively had never been back for such an occasion! Mike Bouvier and his look-a-like son were in from Oklahoma and Norma Kenworthy came all the way from California! Pam Felter Holland came north from South Carolina. How great it was to see them! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Many classmates enjoyed a casual breakfast on Sunday morning, hosted by Barbara and Dick Hodgdon.  It was a perfect way to end our reunion week-end.  Thank you so much Barb and Dick!

Saturday evening we conducted a short business meeting with regard to future alumni plans.  To that end, you will be hearing from Ray Puffer in a separate class mailing.   In memoriam, Warren read aloud the following names of deceased classmates:  Doreen Atema Patenode, Martha Collins Bacon, Lawrence Bauman, Dale Bergeron, Ronald Blood, Eric Brackett, Patricia Brown, John Chase, Linda Marston Gouger, Powell Crowley, Constance Dean, Edward Dodge, Diane Mosher Fosburgh, Charles Gray, Christopher (Peter) Groeger, Patricia Hescock, Daniel Hudon, Cheryl Beebe Kearney, Edward Laraway, Lawrence (Jay) Manley, Cynthia Mann, Malcolm McCracken, George Medor, James Olson, Charles Quinn, Sandra Chamberlin Robertson, James Searles, Ronald Stinson, Marilyn Kinsman Tobey, Barbara Walker, Preston White, and Carlie Wilson Patch.  Upon reflection, this was a reminder to enjoy your life every day and be grateful for your family and friends.

The following topics were briefly discussed:  1.) How do we stay connected during the next 5 yrs.? 2.) What type of event would we like for our 50th and what time of year should it be held? 3.) Ray Puffer, Jeanette Robinson Iverson and Mike Bouvier will develop a plan for a class gift to be presented at our 50th reunion.  Their intention is to create an idea for a gift that will endure.   4.)   We would like to form a 50th Reunion Planning Committee. If you are interested in volunteering please let us know.

From Rick Farnham, “I can’t speak for everyone but for reasons I hold dear, I never tire of re-acquainting with the friends and classmates of my youth!  The bond remains strong and even time and separation fail to diminish my enthusiasm, when embraced in the throngs of so many familiar faces!”

Class of ’64 attendees at the Saturday night gala. How many classmates do you recognize?

We have put a lot of effort into maintaining an up-to-date address list for all of our classmates. If your mailing address, email address, or phone numbers have changed recently, or change in the future please send an update to Ray Puffer either by email at puffer@rpi.edu, or by mail at 196 Boght Rd., Watervliet, NY, 12189. Also, please feel free to call Ray at 518-272-6421.

As mentioned above please look for more correspondence in the months to come from Ray Puffer about our class gift, and from the reunion planning committee about planning for the 50th reunion. We welcome your ideas and suggestions to make our 50th an even better event.
